Works?
WHAT YOU'LL GAIN
7. Gain Confidence & Presence
Walk into auditions and sets ready to work. Show up as an actor who is a creative collaborator, and doesn’t wait to be told what to do.
The Classes
How Does Class Work?
1. Scene Assignment
Every actor is paired with a scene and a partner to challenge your skills and expand your range.
2. Preparation
In Week One, you’ll bring your scene to life for the first time. We're expecting the strongest work you can deliver after rehearsals. This is your camera rehearsal, just like on set: one focused take that shows your preparation. We're building your acting muscles to come in strong in your first take.
After, you’ll receive tailored direction and feedback to refine your work for Week Two.
Prepare like a pro:
-
Read the full script, not just your scene, or watch the movie. Understand the bigger story.
-
Rehearse multiple times with your scene partner.
-
Bring props, wardrobe, and anything you need to immerse yourself fully.
-
Explore, play, discover. Don't rehearse the scene in a mechanical way.
3. Commitment
We hold all actors to professional standards, no matter their experience level or goals in life.
-
Punctuality in rehearsals and class: Show up prepared and on time! Work collaboratively, not as your partner’s director.
-
Focus: Phones off. No walking in or out when a scene is underway.
-
Warm up: You’re welcome to step out and warm up for your scene during the scene right before yours.
-
Treat class like a film set: once scene work begins, please avoid unnecessary movement or chatter. Refrain from eating, clapping or loud reactions during scenes.
-
Learn from others: The feedback your peers receive is part of your training too.
-
No peer feedback: On set, actors get notes only from the director. In class, the coach is the only one giving feedback.
4. Presence
Your scene partner depends on you. If you can’t attend a class, let the class manager know before scene assignments, or immediately after, so we can reassign and keep the work moving.
5. Respect
ISA is a safe and supportive space:
-
Show respect to your scene partner, the class manager, and your coach.
-
If your partner isn’t showing up prepared or is being disrespectful, tell us right away, we’ll reassign you so your progress isn’t stalled.
6. Safety
Your physical and emotional safety comes first. If something feels unsafe during rehearsal or class, talk to the class manager or coach immediately. We’re here to support you.
